Instow, and its part in the life of John.

John in Malta
John in his "summer whites"

This is yet another picture of me in front of Dad's pride and joy, a Hillman car which he owned while we were on Malta. The hub caps had been removed because these seem to be a prime target for stealing, the thieves would then stand at the end of the road and try and sell them back to you.

The view from the roof of 42 Sacred Hart Avenue towards St. Georges Bay This was our first flat in Malta. It was here I became seriously ill from drinking water from the well in the basement of the flat.

Tal Handak School sports day
I went to school at Tal Handaq (Tal Handak)  School. I remember we had a large tree outside our classroom. On hot days we would sit under it for our lessons. Each day we had to have a sleep after lunch.

Admiral Power having a peep at what's going on.
We moved to a first floor apartment at 18a Scott Street, Valetta. It was directly opposite the residence of the Admiral. I can remember being in an earthquake one night it was so strong my bed collapsed.
