1985

31st March: Visit to Japan, Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and worlds Fair. This was my first visit to Japan, what a great place for a holiday but so expensive. I was so lucky that I arrived as the cherry blossoms were coming out, so beautiful.

Tokyo a large, busy and safe city. So much to see but so expensive. 


The Byodo-in Temple in Kyoto. All the temples and gardens exceeded their pictures in books, they were perfect.

25th December: Took a tour group to Philippines and then went onto Japan for a second visit, this time in winter. Stayed with Etsuko's family in Hiroshima and then took the train to Fukuoka, Nagasaki and up to Osaka.
